Enrichment
week is a time of bustling musical activities
planned to enrich and expand students’
knowledge and exposure to music. Instead
of the usual classroom-style lessons,
students are presented with a wide range
of group activities. These include seminars,
quizzes, workshops, mini concerts, music
appreciation courses, introduction to
classical music, and interactive music
theory discussions. All these activities
are especially designed to instill confidence
in students for public performances
and gain a wider perspective of music
education. We aim to create awareness
that music is limitless and should never
be confined to the walls of a classroom.
Music is everywhere. It can be shared,
enjoyed, performed and brought along
with us wherever we like.
The whole series of interactive teacher-student
mini concerts, teachers’ concert
(Pasticcio Night), and demonstrations,
seek to create opportunities for more
interaction between parents and teachers.
Parents got a chance to familiarize
themselves with the teachers, exchange
views and feedback and find out how
their children are faring in class.
Furthermore, a hands-on approach is
adopted during enrichment week. Students
are involved in the preparation of
fun lessons, get to organize and become
emcees for their own mini concerts,
and have a say in how they want to
customize and style their discussion
sessions. Enrichment week has since
become an annual affair due to overwhelming
enthusiasm, positive feedback and
lots of support from parents and students.
