The guitar has a long history, with similar instruments dated back to at least 5000 years. Emerging prominently in the 16th Century, early guitar music led to centuries of musical development that form the basis of the Classical Guitar repertoire. A guitar has a wide range of use in music, from accompanying singers, being a solo instrument, to being a part of a band. It can either play chords by strumming or melodies by plucking the strings. Our classical guitar course provides students an all-rounded training in playing techniques, exploring music from genres such as Spanish, Folk, Jazz, as well as orchestral concertos and classical solos. Study the rich and varied history of the acoustic guitar and its wealth of literature written by many of the world’s greatest composers like Villa-Lobos, Roussel, and Paganini.
